I grew up watching my family run a women’s clothing store named— you guessed it— “Amita’s.”  Like me, the store boasted a vivacious personality, splashed by the vibrant hot-pinks and neon-greens of the late ‘80s. More importantly, it featured the magnetic pull of my mother. Like many of us, as a kid, I didn’t realize the impact of watching my mother build her business.  I learned by example, as she created friendships from customers, selected unique merchandise and developed her boutique brand. 

I knew as I created my own career that I wanted to help people grow in their lives and businesses. I decided to start a marketing and web design business in Houston in 2011. I ran it concurrently with a yoga and meditation business, where, in many cases, my yoga clients became my web design clients. Eventually, I moved with my husband to Austin, TX, and then, to keep the weirdness going, to Portland, OR. I continued working with select clients remotely, and am currently seeking new opportunities with more inspiring businesses.

During my time in Portland, I’ve taken to backpacking and home remodeling. I’ve done major renovations and am in love with using my design skills in this new, tangible way. Outside of exposing studs and rebuilding walls, I’ve been continuing working with an established Texas client for several years called, StarHill Farms. (The focus of much of the work on this portfolio website)

StarHill Farms is a unique family-owned ranch turned Boutique Luxury Inn. In the time I’ve worked with the farm, I’ve guided their evolution from a family farm to a travel destination. It still continues to evolve, offering wedding event options, an online store, and in the near future, a small winery.

I work with intention and help focus projects toward a cohesive mission. The intention of StarHill is to share. All internal and external business decisions keep this mission in mind — sharing the peacefulness, history, nature, and the overall uniqueness of the StarHill Farms experience.
